Maximize the Investment in Your People with Prodoscore
I met the Prodoscore team at ASA’s Staffing World event in 2023. The tagline “you can’t improve what you can’t measure” immediately resonated with me. I didn’t have any accountability tools in my tech stack. I pride myself in being a progressive and generous employer offering flexible work hours, the ability to work from wherever several days a week, etc., however, looking at Prodoscore’s offering I realized I just didn’t know how productive my people were. I’d hear that X employee was really busy, working evenings and weekends, for example, but didn’t have visibility. I had no insight into burnout or workloads.
Prodoscore seemed like a simple and employee friendly way to give me more information about my people.
Rolling out the Solution
We rolled out Prodoscore in stages, by department. We certainly received questions from employees about the purpose of the tool but it was really important for me to ensure they understood what it was for, we were transparent about it. In fact, our COO and a few managers were hesitant to roll it out at all then realized the value. Some employees had anxiety about their scores early on but as soon as you build trust with them, they kind of forget all about it.
Plus, we don’t manage to the score – I don’t really care if you were a 78 yesterday and a 65 today. It’s more about understanding things like workload and burnout risk. Having access to this type of data makes me a better leader and prevents me from micromanaging. It gives me some truth about how people are working.
The reality about the impact on culture is that a reaction from employees is unavoidable but the steps that you take after it’s rolled out will dictate how Prodoscore fits into the organization and across teams. I think if you’re too focused on scores and comparing them it can certainly be harmful but when you highlight the value of the data and use some of the talking points that Prodoscore provides, employees see that with Prodoscore comes flexibility and freedom. This is a system that can show employers all the wonderful things an employee is doing that would otherwise go unnoticed.
The Impact
I can’t directly track productivity gains back to Prodoscore however, the solution helped me verify that we have a very productive team. Even more importantly it gives me peace of mind and reassurance.
I can talk with team members openly and directly about some of the trends I’m seeing – like if reps are not making as many outbound calls as they should. In one instance, a team member told me that their manager was completely MIA. When I looked in Prodoscore it was clear as day that she was right – on days when that manager was remote there were blocks of 5 hours where no work was done! I would never have had that kind of insight prior to Prodoscore and thankfully was able to act on that data.
Final Thoughts
If you consider the millions of dollars we spend on payroll and compare it to the cost of Prodoscore, it is a miniscule investment. The data helps ensure you’re optimizing workloads of people on your team. If someone is overworked I now know to bring in help so they don’t drown. You may think someone is busy but find out they actually have a lot of free time and can work on ways to make them more effective. It costs more to hire than keep a good employee and Prodoscore helps me do that.
It’s a solution that enables me to maximize the investment in people, the #1 expense at an organization.
