Introducing the Prodoscore Data API for Enterprise Teams

TL;DR: Prodoscore now offers a read-only Data API; Enterprise plan customers can use this feature at their current plan rate while Basic and Premium plan customers can add the API for an additional fee. It gives your team self-service, programmatic access to the same workforce data Prodoscore has always tracked, so you can pull it directly into your own BI tool, data warehouse, or internal system instead of waiting on a manually built report.

Why We Built a Data API

Enterprise teams have told us the same thing in different ways: they don't just want to see their workforce data inside Prodoscore, they want to bring it into the systems where the rest of their business intelligence already lives. Until now, that meant a manually configured custom report: a CSV email attachment, an XLSX file, or a JSON payload delivered on a set schedule.

That approach works, but it doesn't scale, and it puts a team between your organization and your own data. The Prodoscore Data API changes that. It's a self-service, read-only REST API that lets your team query exactly the data you need, when you need it, and pull it directly into the tools you already use for reporting and analysis.

What the Data API Delivers

The API is built around five data endpoints, each representing a core category of information Prodoscore captures:

  1. Employee Daily Summary: a daily scorecard for each employee, including Prodoscore, active time, gap time, and productivity group.
  2. Product Activity: how often each employee interacted with each connected tool on a given day.
  3. Desktop Agent Activity: app- and URL-level activity captured by Desktop Connect (available to customers with an active Desktop Connect license).
  4. Activity Events: time-blocked activity events, like calendar entries, so you can reconstruct a timeline of someone's day.
  5. Website Duration: aggregated time spent per employee on each website domain over a date range.

Every endpoint supports filtering by date range at minimum, with additional filters like role, department, or product depending on the endpoint. Responses come back as consistent JSON with ISO 8601 timestamps, so your team isn't reconciling different formats across different pulls.

Built for Enterprise Scale and Security

Performance and security were non-negotiable requirements for this API, not afterthoughts:

  1. Simple, filtered queries return in under 500 milliseconds. Broader queries, like a full department over 30-plus days, return their first page in under 2 seconds.
  2. Every customer gets one API key, scoped entirely to their own data. There's no cross-tenant access, and every call requires HTTPS.
  3. The API defaults to a 90-day rolling window when no date range is specified.
  4. Documentation includes a full OpenAPI 3.0 spec, an interactive explorer, a Getting Started guide, and an error code reference, built so a technical team member can go from API key to first successful call in under 30 minutes.

The API is read-only. It cannot create, update, or delete anything in your Prodoscore account, and access is controlled entirely by your organization's admin settings.

Suggested Use Cases for the Data API

The five data endpoints support a range of use cases beyond simple reporting. Here's a closer look at how Enterprise teams could put each one to work.

Unified Executive Dashboards

Most leadership teams already have a dashboard they trust, built in Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or a similar tool, and it rarely includes workforce data because there was never an easy way to get it there. With the Employee Daily Summary endpoint, a data team can schedule a routine pull into the company's existing warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar) and join it with the revenue, pipeline, and operational tables already feeding that dashboard. The result is one view where Prodoscore, active time, and productivity group sit next to the business metrics leadership already reviews every week, rather than a separate report someone has to remember to open.

Software Spend and Utilization Reviews

Enterprise software budgets tend to grow faster than anyone's visibility into whether every seat is being used. The Product Activity endpoint gives IT and finance a way to see, tool by tool and department by department, how consistently a license is actually being touched. That data can support a recurring pre-renewal review that flags underused licenses before the invoice arrives, or help an enablement team spot which departments haven't picked up a newly rolled-out tool so follow-up training can be targeted at the teams that need it instead of a blanket reminder to everyone.

Workload and Capacity Planning

The Activity Events endpoint reconstructs time-blocked activity, like calendar entries, into a timeline of how a person's day is actually spent. Operations and resource managers can pull this data across a team or department to see how time is distributed across projects and meetings over a given period. That gives a more grounded starting point for staffing conversations: identifying a team that's already stretched thin before assigning a new initiative, or making the case for an additional hire with a clearer picture of where the current team's time is going.

Security and Compliance Workflows

Security and compliance teams already centralize log data from multiple systems into a SIEM or GRC platform as part of their standard audit process. For customers with an active Desktop Connect license, the Desktop Agent Activity endpoint lets that team pull app- and URL-level activity directly into the same pipeline, alongside the rest of their monitoring data, instead of running a separate manual export. That keeps workforce activity data in the same audit trail as everything else the compliance team already reviews on a periodic basis.

Engagement with Technologies

When a company rolls out a new intranet, knowledge base, or learning platform, it's often hard to tell months later whether people are actually using it. The Website Duration endpoint aggregates time spent per employee on each domain over a date range, which HR and enablement teams can use to compare adoption of cloud tools over time. That makes it easier to decide where to invest in additional training, or where a tool may need to be simplified or retired because it never gained traction.

How to Get Started

The Prodoscore Data API is available now to customers on the Enterprise plan, or you can add the API to your existing plan as an add-on. If you're already an Enterprise customer, reach out to your account team to have API access enabled for your organization. If you're not yet on the Enterprise plan and want to bring your workforce data into your own BI tools, talk to your Prodoscore account team about what an upgrade looks like.
