Understanding the Metrics

Productivity %: Calculated as (productive_duration / active_duration) * 100. Note: idle time (no keyboard/mouse activity) is NOT included in the denominator. Only active time counts.

Example: If an employee was active for 6 hours and spent 5 hours on productive work, their productivity % = (5/6)*100 = 83%.

What Counts as Productive: Determined by your Productivity Rules. See Setting Up Productivity Rules to configure which apps and URLs are marked as productive for your teams.

Use Cases

  • Performance reviews: Objective metric to discuss productivity trends with employees
  • Team benchmarking: Compare teams to identify best practices or teams needing support
  • Tool evaluation: Identify which applications are consuming productive time vs. distracting time
  • Workload planning: Low productivity across entire team may indicate understaffing or unrealistic targets
  • Policy effectiveness: If blocking a website improves team productivity, the policy is working
Interpretation: High productivity % is good, but context matters. A sales team might have lower "productive" % due to more time in email/messaging (configured as neutral). Adjust your Productivity Rules to match your team's actual work patterns.
