Ensure your Windows devices meet the minimum system requirements before deploying Desktop Connect.

Supported Windows Versions

  • Minimum: Windows 8 and above
  • Recommended: Windows 10 or Windows 11 for best performance and feature support
  • Server: Windows Server 2012 R2 or later (for server deployments)

Both Home and Pro editions are supported.

Hardware Requirements

  • Processor: Any modern processor (Intel Core i3 or equivalent or better)
  • RAM: 2 GB minimum. 8 GB recommended for best performance, especially for users running many applications
  • Storage: 500 MB free space for installation. SSD recommended (faster than HDD)
  • Display: Standard display (no special requirements)

Two Installation Modes

Standard Mode: App icon visible in system tray. User manually punches in/out. Recommended for most deployments.

Stealth Mode: Runs invisibly. Requires admin rights during installation. Recommended for corporate deployments where IT wants invisible operation.

Admin Rights

  • Standard Mode: Admin rights NOT required to install or run
  • Stealth Mode: Admin rights required during installation (one-time), but agent runs as standard user afterward

Network Requirements

Outbound HTTPS (Port 443): Desktop Connect requires outbound access to Prodoscore servers on port 443 (HTTPS). Configure firewall rules to allow:

  • *.ag.prodoscore.com (wildcard, recommended)
  • api.ag.prodoscore.com
  • auth.ag.prodoscore.com
  • [yourworkspace].ag.prodoscore.com

Antivirus and Endpoint Security

If your computers run antivirus or EDR (endpoint detection/response) software, add exceptions for Desktop Connect:

  • Standard Mode: C:\\Program Files\\Prodoscore\\MyZenV2\\MyZenV2.exe, updater.exe
  • Stealth Mode: C:\\Program Files\\zs\\zs\\MyZenV2s.exe, zsrvc, updater.exe

If not whitelisted, antivirus may block the agent, causing installation or runtime failures.

File Sharing and UNC Paths

For Group Policy or network-based deployment, ensure target computers can access UNC file paths (network shares) with Read permissions. Example: \\fileserver\\software\\prodoscore\\MyZenV2.msi

Do Not Rename the Installer File: The filename contains your account's unique security token. Renaming the file will cause installation to fail with a license error.

Performance Impact

Desktop Connect uses minimal system resources:

  • CPU: Typically < 5% at peak
  • Memory: Typically < 150 MB RAM
  • Network: Minimal bandwidth (uploads activity data periodically, not continuously)
  • Disk: Minimal disk I/O

Modern Windows computers should experience no noticeable performance degradation.
